I agree, the merc obamamax is always in front of a yamaha 4 banger...... to the mechanic shop.. However, W consider yourself lucky, hell for what having like 800 hours on the motor not too bad..... |

What about a extra belt tensioner? After you change out a few belts that can cause the belt to pop.

The overheating part if my fault, a four hour tow will do that to you. W is too nice of a guy to let me pay his bill on this but he should.

That is cool that he towed you in. Mercury should cover this under warranty, they charged you for it?

W, I tell ya man thats pretty darn kool of ya to come on here and talk about how your having trouble with your Merc. Considering all the Grief you give and get. LOl
On another note if you wanna go fast you put black on the back. If you want a motor to outlast your pickup you put YAMAHAMMER on it. Not saying Mercs are not reliable. Their all good today, some with better feautures some not, but they all break eventually. Now about the SHO, pretty darn good motors soofar. have heard of 2 power head failures, and one lower unit handgrenaded, but other than that they seem purty darn good. After looking on yamahas website and talking to two diffrient boat builders The SHO may run 1-2 mph faster than the original VMAX, and maybe .5-1.5 better in mpg. The Kicker is they did it in 4stroke fashion and lightened it up some also. You put it head to head with proXS, And I think many would be dissapointed, but it is a four stroke, and they came a long way! |

Is there any truth to the rumor that Yam is working on making a 300sho? |

Yep they are making a 300 sho....the 300 offshore series is based off the same 4.2 sho block. From what I heard from my dads friend that works for skeeter is they are making a different lower unit for the 300 sho.

I will buy that engine and put it on a Haynie 24HO when it comes out. That should be an amazing ride. 300 Yam on a 24HO right now is at or around 70mph.

would be nice if they did the SHO like PRO XS and make a 115hp up

The 300 sho will not be much different than the 300 offshore. Only real difference is the cowls and the lower unit. They may have something else up there sleeve,we shall see.

Will it have a 20 inch shaft or 25 like the current 300?

The 300 sho will have a 20" shaft. They made these motors for bass boats, but you can run them on bay boats with the right setup.
