Default Big Lake 10/8 and an early birthday gift

I had one of the best early bday gifts yesterday. My dad, my 5yr old boy and myself went our first father, son and grandson fishing trip. It started off slow but ended up pretty decent. We had 12 keeper reds the biggest going 9.1lbs that my dad caught on the last cast. 3 specks and 1 flounder. Other than a really rough morning and my dad breaking both his rods, an All Star Rod and a Falcon Low rider, and really wet and rough ride back to the boat launch we had a good trip. Anybody know the warranty on falcon rods.

That's awesome. My buddy broke 2 rods in one trip with me this summer as well. Then he had to start using mine. I said, "you break, you buy."

Not sure about the Falcon, but the All Star's warranty sucks, even the lifetime BS warranty....I quit buying them about 3 yrs ago, found that the quality went down from about 10 yrs ago (I think Berkley took them over)....Broke 2 rods in about 2 months, setting the hook on fish, no less.....Academy would not take them back, and All Star wanted to charge a $20 processing fee, plus had to pay for the rod container to ship it in....and no guarantee that it would be replaced.....I will never buy another All Star rod again.......

Thanks for the info. He's more upset and so am I about his Falcon because it has a sentimental value.

Go shimano and you won't have that problem any more, they have a great line of good rods.

Here's a few more pics. I noticed my son had been really quite and still while I was running the motor so my dad could cast net for some bait. I realized he had fallen asleep watching the water.

An awesome day on so many levels. Make sure to get a print of the close up shot showing your Son asleep. That one for the wall.

Sorry to hear your Dad lost a special rod.

Haha my dad used to always bring me along when I was that age. He told me when I would fall asleep he would bungee strap me to the seat with my life vest on!

For being only 5yrs old he did awesome. Fished nonstop learned how to bait his own hook and could caste his spiderman reel across the lake. We defently made some memories.
