If you cut through all the crap and see what most of these small motors are really doing then you are in the ball park.

As was said earlier, you are probably about where you should be. You could put a tach on it and make sure you're propped correctly.

Weedeater's 25 is a long way from stock and so are 40's running over 40.

to be honest my motor runs no differnt now then before I had my carb work done, the biggest gain was my exhaust being opened up. If I would be willing to sacrifice the life of my motor and have it port, polished and head shaved it would do alot more but right now all I have is a 25hp 3 cylinder with 40 carbs that are restricted in jets due to me not wanting to do block work but if I wold have more done this motor would most likely see 40mph but then agin I bought a 200hp on a boat so I could go fast if I wanted and save the life of the 25 for what its made for.

With the double floor etc, you are probably close where you are at. May get a little more out of it messing with prop or jackplate.

PM Montauk, he should have some good input

I would come down 1 off the pitch, my merc 40 is running a 13p and is way more motor than a yamaha. After duck season you can try my prop is you wish and see if it helps. Beats buying or repitching existing prop before ya know for sure. Also have an 11p you can try that might work, both have tunnel cups though.

thanks ray, but you in lake charles i am in lafayette , that is a long way to go just to try out a prop, and i believe the tunnel cup on it will be to much, i have access to others close by to be able to try out different props just didn't get around to it yet, i had a 40 evinrude on a 15foot tunnel and i put some tunnel cup on a 17p prop and it made a big difference picked up around 5mph but i still was only running 36-37 by myself, lol 40-42 would be awesome

How you have enough motor to turn a 17p prop??? I am in and out of Laf all the time, not a big deal. Would suggest calling Toups in Abbeville.

You can buy a tiny tach for around 40 dollars. That would tell you where your rpm's are and give you an idea of what direction you would need to go on another prop.

Difference is the hull. If I was to do that, I'd need a spoiler to stay in contact with the water.......I haven't even removed the restricted plate on it.....may do that before I use it again, just to see.
