you guys gotta help me out then, i am ashamed to say i have a 16foot express that maxes out at 31 by myself with hardly anything in it, it is a side console with front and back decks, it is a 1997 setup 40hp yamaha, it runs 28-30 with two people and gear

With the double floor etc, you are probably close where you are at. May get a little more out of it messing with prop or jackplate.

this is my 15x48 Alweld and on a really good day I have ran it alone and empty at 34-35 gps but .....normally with my gear by my self its 32-33 gps on a good day or if I add merc with his crap it will do 30-31 gps.... and he will back this.

I would come down 1 off the pitch, my merc 40 is running a 13p and is way more motor than a yamaha. After duck season you can try my prop is you wish and see if it helps. Beats buying or repitching existing prop before ya know for sure. Also have an 11p you can try that might work, both have tunnel cups though.

Don't be, its very scary!!! I was coming down the ship channel one day, passing a guide boat and caught a head wind......boat left the water!!!! Scared the crap outta me!! I'm sure those guys got a good laugh. Ive since changed the prop, but still have the big one for the thrill seeking days!!

How you have enough motor to turn a 17p prop??? I am in and out of Laf all the time, not a big deal. Would suggest calling Toups in Abbeville.
