![]() I also want to learn how to make my own baits but have no idea how to start. If you know a store or company that sells these products that would be great. Last edited by pricecb; 01-16-2012 at 10:56 AM. Reason: grammer |

I know how to make the Dbl rigs but I know there are some tools out there that can help make a better/tighter knot. If you ever buy the dbl rigs in the store they are usually on a 30pound test and a good tight knot. I know they arent tying those by hand.

I tie palomar knots on the jigs and a palomar to a swivel between the jigs.
Do your own knot wars, a palomar beats a cinch knot every time. No matter what knot you use if you hang two good reds, one is going to break off. |

yea fluro cuts itself and it will break on you with a palomar and a reg clinch knot. just google best knot for fluro and then pick your poison. some of them are pain to tie

make sure that when you tie any knot in floro, to wet the line and tighten the knot good.

Cool, I believe y'all. I just don't use flourocarbon very often.
Whatever knot works for you. It's usually not the knot that breaks but the line near the knot that gets scraped on oysters. It's still fun to do your own knot war. Take two old topwater baits, remove the hooks and tie opposing knots on a short piece of line and pull the baits apart until one breaks. For me Palomar beats improved cinch, but maybe I'm just not very good at tieing the cinch knot. |

I always tie this knot with fluro, I was told the key is to spit on the knot prior to chinching it down so it keeps the line slick to cut friction that can heat the line n make it weaker. I don't know if it's true but I nerve have knot trouble
