This place in Sulphur has a pretty big selection of trailer parts.
Could probably ship also. http://www.topsautorecycling.com/ind...&id=4&Itemid=6 |

i have always used Quality Trailers off of Pinhook in Lafayette and never had any issues. I think they do runners. I have only had lights brakes and axel issues done there.

It's so easy, why don't you just do it?

buy supplies, boards, carpet, new hangers. all you need is a generator or invertor, saqz-all, drill, ratchet and wrench set and staple gun. Get the proper equipment and do it in the boat lanch parking lot.

Clark Springs is the best in trailer repair. If he can't order the part for you he has a fab shop and will make it for you and will beat any prices hands down. I was given a quote at the big name trailer places and he beat them by $100.

I just had some axle work done at Thib's Trailers in Duson. I was very satisfied with the experience. They should be very capable of the work you are describing.

Thanks for all the suggestions....I ended up taking it to Trailers of Louisiana on HWY 90 by daspit rd.... I was going to do it myself, but the integrity of the trailer itself is suspect.....Only 4 yrs old and has corroded really bad (but just at spot where the brackets for the runner meet the trailer). The guy there suggested a whole new trailer. It will cost 400-500 bucks to have the work done and it would only be a matter of time before the trailer rusts completely through. I hate to spend that kind of money now if I'll end up dropping 1200 on a new trailer next yr.
To make matters worse, the bolt on the bracket that broke gouged the crap out of my boat. May end up having to have some welding done too..... |

I know you already made your decision, but I can't say enough about Claude's in New Iberia. James does great work, is honest and his prices are hard to beat!

If your getting a new trailer made and you ever plan to launch in salt water, I highly recommend getting a galvanized trailer.
Also have the brackets for the trailer lights extended up above the height of the boat so the lights won't go under water. This will greatly reduce problems with the trailer lights not working. |
