Naw cuz, I did hear TU (Turkeys Unlimited) was putting a bunch out up north and it was 'shortstopping' the turkeys from coming south though

I don't turkey hunt and am just curious...why would you not shoot a turkey "on the roost?" Seems like if I'm hunting a bird and come across one sitting in a tree it's coming down. Is it illegal? Is it an ethics thing? Is it hard to get a clean kill shot?

I would guess ethics I am sure it goes along the same line as only shooting ducks that are flying and not sitting on the water but just my guess

Ethics, you didn't really 'hunt' the bird, its also not a high percentage shot. A duck sitting on the water is very ethical! You fooled it, and it doesn't waste any meat

Ethics. And although I'm no expert, I'm sure you wouldn't get a clean shot due to the fact that you it doesn't seem likely that one could sneak up close enough to a roosin' bird to get that clean shot.

What Butter said.

I see. Yea, I feel the same way about a duck on the water. If it is a good distance from me I will take a shot on the water. I have hunted with guys that prefer to make a noise and take the bird as it is getting off the water.

I shot my biggest turkey on the run. But did make the mistake of trying a 50 yard shot. Won't do that again.

Well since we are getting a TON of water, I think the best thing for the turkeys would be to give them a break during this turkey season. They are going to be put under a lot of stress this year with the water levels. I am saying this in order to help out the turkeys of course.
