Honey Bees?

anyone know where I can buy a hive of bees from around here? I am interested in raising some bees for honey. not looking to make a business, but I just love honey. And I find the bees pretty interesting too. I've seen some online for sale, but I think I'd rather get some local if I can.

You got more balls than me....got a honey bee stuck in my earr when I was 9, stung me twice...friends mom said everything was ok lol once inside the house and bee removed with tweezers...yellow jacket was in my shirt and stung me... Can't stand anything buzzing around my head, freak out a little bit when something does..

I used him to remove about 100,000 bees that decided to take up residence in a wall of one of my rental properties in BR.
He keeps bees and does removal work.
He told me bees are very "finicky" you can fix them a place and for no reason at all
If they decide they don't like they will just up and leave.

My dad got us boys into bee keeping back when I was a teenager.

We started with one hive and about each year we divided the hives to keep the bees from swarming. So after a few years we had 4 or 5 hives in the back yard. Some of the hives would be 4 or 5 "boxes" high. About twice a year we would "rob" the hive of honey. Every few weeks during the spring and summer we would check the hives by taking them apart to look at how much honey the bees were making to know when the "rob" the honey.

The hives were setup in the flower beds and cutting the grass in front where the bees flew in and out...... that was not always fun.

Getting the honey was a big process that would take most of the day to complete. We had a hand crank type centrifuge extractor that would hold 2 large size frames. We would get 15 to 20 gallons of honey each time.

I think Mom would leave the house .......when we took over the kitchen.
