Default Destruction of old platforms in the Gulf

Has anyone else been keeping up with the efforts of Capt Al Walker and Black Elk Energy? All I can say is kuddos to them for fighting to save essential marine habitat that is currently being dismantled and blown away by our wonderful government. For those not in the know, hundreds of old platforms are scheduled to be dismantled (some are being destroyed as I type this), destroying years of coral growth and habitat for an otherwise fairly featureless sea floor. Check out Capt Al's website, http://towersoflife.com/ for more info.

Yes, I was just reading an article on this and just made a donation. Everyone who loves the Gulf should get behind this however they can.

The environmentalists, commercial fishermen, and rec fishermen all on the same page on an issue...but still can't beat the bureaucrats in DC.

I thought there was a fund for this in Louisiana? Remember Jindal taking money from the fund and there was an uproar last year or something?

The platforms are what make our fisheries great offshore, I don't wanna be like MS or AL. Went to Dauphin Island once and the captain pulled up onto his spot and we caught snapper but he had paid something like $10k to have a barge haul a load full of shopping carts to dump out there to make a 'reef'? I know cool story, not sure what that has to do with anything, just getting excited that I am actually going to get to fish tomorrow
