Default Chasing Birds

Tried to make a run offshore Sat, but we were rudely hit in the face with a stiff west wind. Made a few casts around some reefs to no takers. Found some birds working on the way back, had to catch 5 gafftops for each white trout and at least 10 gafftops for each speck it got old fast since there was no size to anything except the 'tops.

Dang guys....so negative! Fished yesterday with wifey for a coupla hours. Started at the crack of 11:00am and fished till 1:00pm...started gettin a little choppy for wifey. She caught most of the fish...10 trout and 4 nice whiteys at the well heads in the bay, Margarita assassins. Never saw another boat in our vicinity. Where was everyone Sunday..hell, the parking lot was full up.

My husband and I were there Sunday. We fished the trash pile, Avery canal and dry reef, caught noting but gafftops, hardheads and croakers. We r newbies and getting frustrated with vbay.

Yeap, VBay is a very frustrating place to fish, but it's home and just gotta deal with it I guess....LOL. Went Saturday afternoon caught five nice trout and 1 flounder till the wind blew us off the area we were fishing...... Oh well always this coming weekend.

Laffygirl, welcome to SC! By chance were you fishing with dead shrimp on the bottom hoping for some reds? Leave the stinkey baits alone! Fish with plastics 4ft down the trout seem to be suspended right now. Don't get frustrated, easier fishin' in VB is just around the corner.

When it gets that off stained color we've done good at trash pile on black n chartreuse but the rest depends on water clarity and what they are eating on. If they suspended try a flashy color like chicken on a chain so they pick it up better. Just my .02!! I don't fish it often but when I do it's when the gettin is good. 11/2-21/2 months you be slanging specks and whites like no tomorrow. First anchor never move fillin ice chests up

Laffygirl, that's some good advice up there from bgizzle. That black/chradtreuse is always on at least 2 rods. Lately the margarita sparkle has been really good. Glow/chartreuse in spring to early summer. Motor oil and avacado fire tails will produce from now through Nov. Any color from Oct-Nov.
