we thought about it. I really have just given up on tourney fishing. I know some are benefits but I just think it's a whole different game than just fishing to have fun. No wild scamper to get on a spot. No hurrying back to not miss a weigh in.
I just don't have fun fishing tourneys anymore at all. Thanks for the invite though.

What stops the cork from sliding all the way up?

Do a google search for "slip bobber" there are a lot of instructions out there. You tie a bit of string around the main line at the point you want the bobber to stop. This determines the depth. It is very effective when you need to suspend a bait more than 5 ft down.

For white perch in the dead of winter suspended deep, its the bestt way

Not sure what brand or anything, but you can buy 'bobber stops' at Wal Marks.

Here's what we do.Capt. Dumas taught me the proper way to rig a sliding cork for specs.

Go buy the sacalait slip cork strings that are wrapped around a small plastic tube.
Comes with little beads with holes in them.

Rig in this exact order.It's a pain to do and you may want to do it at home before heading out in the boat.

Start with braided line on your reel. Mono will allow the small string to slide easier and you don't want that.
Run your fishing line through the little plastic tube,pull the string that is wrapped around the tub upwards and off the tube.
Pull the little knot tight and clip off excess string hanging off the knot.

Next,pull the line through the little bead with the hole in it.

Next,get a decent sized unweighted cork with the plastic tube running through it(you know the old school kind that looks like a mini marker bouy) and run the fishing line through the plastic straw in the cork.

Next get a 1/4-1/2oz egg weight and run the string through it.

Next tie on a swivel.

Tie on about a foot of 20-30 lb. flouro leader material to the swivel.

Finish off with a good treble hook about 4/0

Thats it.

Set the first little string knot to the depth you want to fish and the little bead will hit that knot and the cork will not be able to get passed it.



Sorry for the long writeup but doing this procedure correctly will save a bunch of fishermen a lot of headache and frustration.
