Default Beach 8-8-12

Made a late night decision to try the beach this morning. Saw light north winds in the forecast so made a go of it this morning. Arrived early before sun was up and noticed a few waves breaking over. Started casting topwater before the sun was up and trout started hitting instantly. North winds started around 6 and water died down to calm and smooth. Water was beautiful. Sharks were unbelievable. Lost a couple baits and about 25 hooks. No shortage of sharks on the beach, sure wish you could keep them. Caught 22 trout on top and rest on bottom. Storms were all around and wind picked up around 9 out of the south and that is when the fishing died off. Water started to stain up and waves started to crash. Tide was out this morning but started to come in mid morning. Watching a 24" shark hit topwater is something to see. They love them some skitterwalks. Looks like south winds the next couple of days. Water was pretty from Holly Beach all the way to Maes- until the wind started to blow. Took my friends son with me- He was one happy kid- good memories..

Agree- I thought I won the Star tournament 5 times this morning hooking on to them sharks. Kinda scary watching them bump your leg and swim past you in the clear water. We must have hooked into over 50 of them.

Conditions are getting almost right. If I would not have had some "boat" stuff that I had to do this am, I might have been down there this AM.

With all those shark around, I might bring my 12 foot boat on the next trip.

I got your number for next time.........

don't quit when the wind switches. break out the sand spikes and the surf rod. put some cut mullet on the hook, and bring in the 20-25lb bull reds, and maybe a few black tips and bullsharks. out at the rocks, bull reds are a dime a dozen.

Sounds good to me, shoot me a text when the winds die down and we can wade the beach or go in my boat
