Its a piece of farm equipment that allows you to knock down the tall grass in a field when there is too much standing water to plow or bush hog.

Basically it is a larger version of a cultipacker pulled behind a tractor, but it has large steel flat plates, usually 6" wide welded to it which smash and chop the rice stubble.

Be sure you don't have to use the bathroom at S & W welding, that place is freakin scary.

Be careful with a 4 wheeler buffalo. They can be very hard to pull if you don't have a strong bike

I just completed this one as a "cultipacker" for my food plots. I am not completely satisfied with the design and I am bag to paper on some changes. I may end up welding flate plate to it and onverting it to a ATV buffalo. I have a 2" collar welded on one side to allow for ballast. Either water or sand.

The roller section is 48" and outside to outside of frame is 53" to accomadate my ATV trailer. The tounge slides out to flip over since I will be putting some wheels on it to run from plot to plot. The total in it so far is $165, but the pipe was a defective piece from a job.

Very nice design, just need the plates welded to cylinder, in my experience, water works great and is easily removed to lighten load when done, thanks for the pic. I would need to have more distance between the cross-bar and cylinder for the chop plates needed to cut grass.

Yep, if I convert it to a buffalo, it will be extended 10", then modified on the drum. I used it as a cultipacker and it was perfect with no ballast, but the dang wet clay would stick to the drum.
