Default Henderson Mixed Bag

Fished Bigeaux area Sunday afternoon, tons of boats on the water. Those bull bream in that lake are some giants, found a bed of chinquapin late in the day and was able to pull out a few but they were way in the backwater in some thick stuff so most would wrap me and get away. One nice white perch too, and had chinquapin for supper last night, so a good day I was using a gray hair jig.

I caught most about 3' deep in 7' of water, but the chinquapin were in about 1' of water in the backwoods. It was frustrating not being able to get them to the boat, but oh well. I don't know much about how it used to be there, but last year we went twice for bream and we found several beds of them on the cypress in about 3' of water. They were all over the place and huge to me. I tipped my jig with a grass shrimp and probably why I was catching bream as well. Just bring a net with you and find any mats of vegetation and scoop in there and you can catch all the grass shrimp you need, no need for crickets

I guess I was in Bigeaux, I did some exploring. Wanted to go south of the interstate but man there is plenty of water to explore north. Maybe next time

Default Water

The water was a little murky. But that's where the fish were. We fished some clear water with no luck. We caught all our fish in murky water.

Yep same here, murky in Bigeaux but rode around a little and went up north of Pelba and it was crystal clear and really dark. Caught a few there but was mostly exploring up there. Pretty place

Like Country Boy said, the bream fishing should be incredible in a few weeks. Last year the two times we went it was awesome
