You are correct its kinda hard to explain unless your familiar with the theory of heat/ latent heat. But basically what happens is if you store ice at a colder air temp the air will continue to absorb btu's from the ice. Your never actually make anything matter colder you are only removing more heat from an object. Therefore it will take more btu's of heat to rerun the Ice back to a liquid state. I'm no expert on scientific part of this. We just had to learn it when I went to AC & Refrigeration school.

True ice is ice, but it dose last longer
the colder it is when it gets to a icechest or a drink

The ice never actually vets below 32 degrees tho your only removing latent heat.

I wish more places carried block ice, a block and a bag or 2 will last the whole summer almost!

I don't know if I like gulf way more for their poboys before sun up or walking to my ice chest LikeUhBoss with a big block of ice - put dat in da Nigloo and last a munt.

Those high dollar ones come in handy on a 2-3 day trip offshore with no ice machine around.
