Default 6/8 - Holly Beach Surf

Well the wife went to Galveston this weekend for a girls weekend and some R&R, so me and the boys decided to hit the beach for a little surf fishing. Beach was calm, pretty good visibility, and the trout are still liking the sand eel. Caught all 15 on a glow/chartreuse jr., eastern side. Would have been done a lot earlier but I forgot my stringer. Lol, had to walk each fish back to the truck.

Kiddos had a blast and my 7 yr old reeled in his first trout!!

Pic didn't come through planning on heading out there tomorrow (Sunday) and trying the same with my wife and would really like to out her on some fish.. Last few times we went the bite wasn't on and she got bored quick. I haven't fished there before and am not sure of where to find beach access that will be good for fishing any kelp appreciated

Different depending on where fish are. Sometimes can wade 10' out to your ankles and fish are close, other times gotta get waist deep or deeper. Going to rocks gets above the waist and deeper on some rocks. Just a hint- Do not bring your nice tackle wading. It will get wet and full of salt water and sand.

How do you know where to fish? Do you just choose a spot and wish for luck? Or you find slicks, or bait, or just and thang that stands out?????

Its been a while since i had fished the rocks, but I'm guessing the tide was out Saturday morning when we went. My 3 year old was right beside me and the water was at his waist when we were standing in the middle of the rocks. About waist deep for me as you head to either side of the rocks.
