No doubt....I been playing around the idea of using a shakey head used in bass fishing. I think it would work just need to figure out the right lure so you will still get decent hookset on a trout.

You would need a bait that is pretty soft so when you set the hook it would stick a trouts soft mouth easily. Most saltwater lures are too tough. Something like a zoom swimming fluke or swimming senko would prolly be best. Im gunna try it soon, ordered some megastike shakey heads waiting for them to come in.

No shakey head is not a vertical fishing technique....fish it like a regular jig head. The reason it's called a shakey head is the head design allows you to keep it in one spot and shake the slack line without moving the bait much. The megastrike one floats the tail off the bottom as you can see in the video. Most of the other designs I tried just fall over on their side and won't float the tail. It really is a killer way to catch bass, don't see why it would not be for trout and reds. I hope it works,I broke off prolly 20 times last trip to the bay.

They took out quite a bit of old material since Ike And Rita in that exact same spot! Stumps, rocks and hurricane debris was scattered all over that area. Now dey gonna put it all back! That is one of the top spots to fish from late Sept thru January.. a coupla STAR winners came from that area over the years.

They may have decided on the location because it is just inside of, or very near the no-trawling area of Vermilion bay. The WLF regulation reads:

"17. Trawling is prohibited in the cove immediately adjacent to Cypremont Point State Park landward of a line from Blue Point to Cypremort Point to the shoreline."
