I took your advice last year on the sulfur powder when we had a thread about this. Just made a mess and didn't work at all. Maybe I didn't do something right. During summer/archery season at my place in St Francisville, they are absolutely brutal and for some reason I "attract" them way more than others. I went a few weeks ago to put a camera out and fill a feeder. Guy told me to try drier sheets. Put them in both socks and every pocket you got. It really did work. First time I haven't been touched. But I am a little leery of trying this when bow hunting due to scent.

As for remedies after you get the bites, honestly there are none. I have tried every "coonass" remedy under the sun. I have tried putting half a gallon to a gallon of Clorox in my bath!! Clear fingernail polish! Prescription ointment! Some of these may help a little, or maybe just for a handful of bites. But if they really get you, you're basically just screwed and gotta wait it out. Clear fingernail polish is probably the most relief but not much help.

yep. paint over the red spots. the clear coat makes a seal and prevents the bugs from breathing. Only remedy I've ever heard of that works.

Default red bugs remedy

got them a couple week ends ago, also. i swear this stuff called cortizone 10-plus creme ( it has 1% hydrocortisone ) in it. Smear a small dab on the bug bites this will stop the itching immediately reapply when itching begins again. Also wear loose clothing afterwards as tight clothing rubs on bites and makes them itch again.Got my creme at kmart like $5 well worth it man.

Get a dish towel with hot soapy water and ammonia and wash yourself down. Works with ant bites as well.

The chiggers used their mouthparts and injected you with some enzymes and then sucked out the juices

Get some green alchohol pour 3 bottles in a tub with scalding hot water
1 ounce of garlic juice, drink half pour the other half in the water
1 bottle of victorias secret amber romance into the tub
1/2 a jug of bleach, into the tub.

Get an ice chest, put 12 beers in it and cover it with some inside out frozen in a precooled k2 cooler, set it next to the tub.
Get in the tub and soak in it for 57 minutes, when ever you feel like a beer reach over and get you one.
Dry your self off with dryer sheets and then cover all the bites with some clear nail polish that is on the clearance rack at the 2nd closest Dollar General to you.
Dust your self with sulphur powder and then get your wife to massage you down with some wal-mart brand cortizone.

Hope this helps.

I do the same with the exception of whiskey instead of beer. Works every time.

Dr. Tichenor's Antiseptic Mouthwash , its the only thing that relieved the pain for me.

Nice. I'm gonna try this after they cover me opening weekend of bow season. Only remedy i havent tried or heard of. They love me as well. My buddy had to go to doctor for them too. They gave him a prescription ointment that he gave to me but it wasn't much help.

Works for me the doctor is the one that actually told me about this. Just use cotton swab it helps releive the pain. Dont use it as mouth wash though without watering it down it will blister your mouth. (LOL)

Got them really bad after sleeping in the field for a few days couple weeks ago. I've always found that when they blister up a like an ant bite if you just scratch them good until they bleed a bit then take an alcohol pad and wipe them all down it will relieve a lot of the itching and dry them up a lot. Hurts like H#LL but doing this once or twice gets rid of them.
