Dink will be here shortly to tell you they are the best on the market. IMO go with shimano or lews.

Ive had nothing but success with my daiwas. I fish my zillion in the surf and dont have any problems. I do own more shimanos than daiwas but that may be changing soon. I have used some of their lighter spinning rods for sacalait and loved them.

There only 300. I bought 2 when they first came out for 220 each. A little bit heavy but awesome reel.

The daiwa and shimano that I'm looking at are about the same price. Daiwa opus bite and run saltwater spinning reel and Shimano bait runner st 2500..
ill probably get 1 of each and see how they hold up. sent from my Galaxy NOTE II |

I would go with the shimano sedona over the baitrunner.

I repaired reels in the early 1990's for a big store in California and Daiwa always over engineers their reels which you cannot complain about that. I would say quality wise they make a great product like Shimano. Shimano is easier to get parts plus customer service is better than Daiwa. Daiwa is still a great company and make great products.
Any one who thinks Lews Spinning reels is in this bracket is smoking crack and hasn't worked on reels before. Spinning reels Lews really only got into this market recently and quality not on a Shimano or Daiwa level. Spinning reels depending on price range Daiwa makes some of the best reels in the business for inshore. Black and gold which no frills reel but outlast most spinning reels out there they are tanks. Tournament SS have been very reliable inshore reels and around for years. These reels have a history and are still can be found at stores today. Their mid price to higher level price spinning reels are typically worth the money. Not going to knock Shimano they make a good product also. I won't sell my black and golds and Tournament SS made in Japan these I can surf fish with these reels and they still keep ticking. Other brands are just not there. Penn sold out to pure fishing even penn battle at $89 to $100 range is pot metal gears. Really disappointed in Penn's spinning reel offering since they sold out. Fin-nor- Zebco not same product. I love my old fin nor spinning reel, but new stuff not same. |
