Good day Friday! Got started in the morning with a teal hunt. Thought we would try a new spot on the farm and boy was that a good decision. Wasn't a whole lot of birds but if they came in the field, they came in our decoys. Managed to get 13 before my partners had to leave for school.

From there me and a friend of mine decided to make a trip to Big Lake. Gathered our stuff and headed out. Got on the water at about 11 and ran to Turners bay. Saw a few birds acting like they were on some fish and picked up a couple small specks on shrimp and sand eels. The wind started to pick up so we decided to try the rocks along the channel. Stopped at the point across from the bayou at Spicers and within minutes of the first shrimp being in the water my partner hooked up on a redfish. Didn't have a scale but I'm guessing it was about 4-5 pounds.

Picked up a couple more small ones and managed to get two more keepers out of there. Moved down the rocks and we could see some fish moving in the shallow water on the other side of the rocks so we passed through the gap in the rocks and threw some shrimp in there. Cork goes under and it's obviously a good fish. Got him to the side of the boat finally and it surfaced. About a 4 1/2 foot alligator gar. He wasn't hooked well and the hook came out before I could net it.
