Welcome to the site.... Fishing info is kind of slow right now as everyone is trying to finish up hunting season. But stick around, things will heat up soon.

The marsh around Lafitte should be good right now. During the summer the trout all move towards the beach in grand isle. Spring and fall barataria bay

Welcome this is by far the best forum in south LA. If not the web.
Good people and easy to navigate. Got a few on here that don't have much good to say about each other but it keeps it interesting. |

x's 2 on this, if you are a half decent bass fisherman, you can kill the reds around LaFitte with the cast and retrieve method in the Marsh. Gold Spoons, Cocahoe Minnows with a Spinner, White Spinner Baits, Baby Minus..... jsut about anything for a bass outside of worms will work for Reds. I have caught a redfish on a worm in Dularge Before though. Another good thing abut Lafitte is that you can run to North Side of Lake Salvador and catch catfish or run a little further to Lake Cataouche and fish Sac Aux Lait and Perch along with Bass. That's a relly good area to have camp. |

What kind of boat will you be using?
Get popping corks, 1/8oz and 1/4oz jig heads, ghost minnows, h&h black and chartreuse cocahoe, spinner bait, and sometimes you may need some dead shrimp. That's all I use when I fish in lafitte. If the grass is bad then I use a swim bait hook which allows me to hide the hook and not worry about the grass nearly as much. Also I usually use an 1/8oz jig head when using a popping cork. Get a Standard Mapping map also. I can't reeve what the NMR we is but Seaway marina will have it. |

Maps
Seaway should have the maps you need. You're looking for #40 and #53. That will cover you for the east and west side of the ship channel.
