We set out at 5am from Jeanerette, headed to Cocodrie, we found fish right out the chute, we were sight fishing, and they would not bite, did hook up a ~40 incher on a rattle trap, after about 10~15 min battle he found the trolling motor (that was still running) which was no match for 30lb braid, but he was considered a catch. Shortly after while scratching out tossed a sparkle beatle with Pop cork, and fish on right up on shell beach, another nice red, we were both shocked, I was huntn for trout!
We went way south, not far from Trinity Island, found nice water and some hungry reds, were all caught in 12' water in protected areas, all sight fished, several doubles, and even had a shark swim by.
All on artificial, rattle trap seemed to be bait of choice, gold spoon a close second, plastic a distand third.
Smallest fish was 29 incher.
Great Day looking foward to another!
