I love my Ecoboost until I hook up the boat. 21'
It doesn't struggle at all but I get about 7.5-8 towing at about 68mph My tundra was about the same but that was 08 tundra I don't know if they changed anything. Dodge just came out with half ton diesel in the ram pretty interesting. Spiral Out |

I own a F150 with the 5.0. This is my third F150 and I've loved them all. The previous 2 had the 5.4 I think the 5.0 pulls my 22' boat just as good as the bigger engine did. I cruise down to Grand Isle regularly and get 12MPG pulling the boat 68/70 on the hwy. I get high teens low 20's on the highway with no load, 15/16MPG around town. I bought my oldest son an XLT and he loves it and I recently bought a new STX for my son Hunter who turns 16 in May (I can't wait to give if to him.). You won't go wrong with a F150. I've had nothing but good luck with all of ours.

The 5.0 is a peppy engine and I really like the exhaust tone but that engine is not in in the same league as an Ecoboost. The Ecoboost is a freak and is closer in power to the 6.2L. I had a 5.0L company truck and I owned a tuned F150 3.5L Ecboost 4x4 crew and traded it in for a '14 GMC Sierra Z71 crew. Yes the ecoboost was tuned, had intake and exhaust and easily made over 400hp at the crank but even stock it pulled my 22ft boat better than the GMCs 355hp 5.3L V8. Both trucks do a fine job towing and any truck you buy with a V8 or V6turbos will tow a 21ft boat just fine. Daily driving my GMC gets about 17/21 mpg when the Eco got about 14/19mpg average...again it was tuned w/ exhaust & intake...towing both got around 9mpg. I loved the engine in my F150 and it was a rocket but I didn't love the rattles and squirrley shifts from the transmission and turbolag of the Ecoboost...but no major problems. IMO, the Sierra is hands down a better built, more quiet, better rididing & better driving truck than the F150.

Ford 150 5.0 review

And like someone else said, those new GMs are just such a quieter and smoother ride. My BIL has a new Ford 5.4 I have driven a few times and it doesn't ride half as good as my GM. Still a nice truck though. |

My ECO is so quiet it is hard to tell it is started sometimes.
Also, the Fords have more back seat room than even the new GMC trucks. |

You're right they are quiet and back seat area is huge in the F150.

Ford 150 5.0 review
I'd be willing to bet backseat in my new GmC is just as big as F150. The door is even bigger.

I have a F150 with the 4.6 and have no issues pulling my 26' center console or my bayboat. I get about 9 pulling the big boat and 11 pulling the 22'

I drove around a '14 z71 for a rental while my truck was being repaired. Backseat not even close compared to my ford.

I think the backseat would go to the F150. There's a lot of room in the 2014 Sierra/Silverado but the F150 has an apartment in the back. However ,there is more overall interior room in the GMC. Ford accomplishes the big back seat by moving the front seats farther up which doesn't allow for more leg room for a taller person. The good news is that I never have to ride back seat.

My 2010 Silverado 1500 makes 12-13 mpg with no load. 8-10 with my 21'. Maybe it's my driving, but I've never had a truck get over 13mpg . I burned 1/4 tank of gas pulling a tractor about 7 miles the other night to pull my cousin out of a field

Well guess I was wrong but there's PLENTY of room in my back seat. Lot bigger than they used to be.
