Default Great day at Bay Au Fer

Today was the first solid day I have seen this season for fishing the birds in Bay Au Fer. They were everywhere and yielded at least five trout in ever location.

Total count for the day:
10 keeps, all ranged between 16" and 20"
28 Tagged and released
11 of those tags where fish between 12" and 14"
Did not keep count but i would roughly say about 10 gafftops

Got my first double today as well. I use a shedog as my popping cork and landed a trout on the top water and the jig

Today I also landed three fish via the shedog, one of which was a keeper.

I never kept a trout under 14" as in my opinion there is not enough meat on those little guys.

Another good day at the Bay. I had a friend from Baton Rouge come down at the last minute so we decided to try our luck and be out there at day break.

The fish and birds were already active by the time we arrived (0610) and birds were once again all over the place. What made this trip awesome was that we both caught keepers on our first cast of the day.

The only change in today from yesterday was that he birds and fish stopped feeding at 0930 and I mean it died. But by that time we already had 23 trout in the box.

On our way back to the ramp I decided to try out a right-of-way that I have caught a lot of reds out of and shore enough they were still there so we got netted one red and called it a day.
