Going to be hard pressed to find an offshore rod at that price range. Is she looking for spinning or casting?

I have a little more info. The rod has to be 6 feet or less, and she is looking for a reel too. One that can hold 200 yards of 80-100 pound braid. Any options for a combo in the $150-250 range?

I'd guess spinning. It has to be shorter to get on the chopper.

And I'm really just gauging it for her. The price is a rough guide. Just let me know some good values in your opinion, and I'll pass them on.

Rod
Cabela's sells a Ugly Stick combo that's hard to beat. 6.5' rated for 40# line. Penn reel.

Have you looked into all the rig hands that were busted getting off choppers .
Make shore all regs are followed but I bet you or she will get tired of all the stories out there. I think many many got busted and lost polls etc. |
