To me, a foam handle rod is like a V6 corvette, looks good, but the performance isn't there.

I hear ya. To each his own. I started fishing with them about 3-4 years ago and really like them. They are just more comfortable in my hand. Cork is just too hard to me. Never had a problem with handles being "slippery". IMO, I would think cork would be just as slippery as foam when covered in trout slime. But hey, what would I know. I just fish for gafftops and reds.

Good foam grip rod I used this weekend that would make a really nice corky/plastic rod for a good price. Waterloo Phantom It's $110 at Academy.

I prefer cork also but own a few of both and i do not see how foam hinders performance of a rod in any way.

I didn't say it hindered the performance of the rod, it's just not my cup of tea. I'm more comfortable with a Portuguese cork handle rod, therefore I perform better with such. The foam handle to me is less sensitive, therefore it would hinder my performance. Not knocking the rod, I've never thrown one. I have thrown another brand with a foam handle and didn't like it.

I prefer cork also, I think it has a lot to do with trout being a slimy fish and the cork gives a better grip than foam after the slim builds up during a trip. But saying cork is more sensitive I have to disagree, # 1 foam(evc) is lighter and will be as if not more sensitive. Most of your high end bass guys use it to make a living nuff said.

Lol what a loser. Why not just keep your mouth shut. I LOVE my rod from OCR and the grips as well. And will be buying more of them in the near future. I'm pretty sure the guy that MADE this thread pumping Duce even has a few of them as well.
Thanks for trying to make me look stupid though. And whenever you wanna put some money on the line so I can beat the PISS out of you in a little trout tourney just let me know. I will make sure to fish EXCLUSIVELY with my golf club to make sure you have a good chance since it's such a POS.

You should jump in with him. Y'all can both wear UL "Mission No-Maha" gear. Then I can take both y'all money.
So cute.... you come on here and catch your buddy's back. Stay in the sports bar. You don't have anything to contribute on this end.

No I just think it childish and cheesy for a fish off challenge...

And besides showing everyone in the open forum now how much of a big titty baby you are.....I see you contributed nothing to this thread either...lol....

But I do agree with you, I rather foam than cork for rod handles.

You are the KING of childish and cheesy. Don't see where I acted like a titty baby just see where someone tried to shove his opinion of rod grips down everyone's throat just cause he didn't agree with what I use. I tried to leave it alone but of course, just like his BF Rene, he had to fire back again. Just told him to put his money where his mouth is. And it seemed like the "fish off challenge" shut him up.

I wonder if they would put a FATSO grip on the rod like my putter in golf?

Maybe go with the full chord like the ole days...

Duce is under new mgmt not the same dudes, the original dudes still have a small share but my boy Cade runs the show now. Top knotch rods and service. They are some of the lightest and toughest rods that I have ever used......oh forgot to mention the sensitivity is crazy awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the new look is also very astheticly pleasing. I would recomend this rod to anyone looking for lightweight sensitivity and durability in one good looking package :-)

Good luck to the new guys at Deuce Rods. If I wasn't a Waterloo pro-staffer, I'd definitely try one. They sound a lot like the rods I use now.

To be honest, and really not trying to be an a-hole here, is anyone really surprised that Duce went under in the first place? Seemed like they had alot of waste.

When are rod builders and companies going to learn to trim off the useless excess threads on the reelseats of rods with no foregrip? To me, it is hideous to tighten your reel down and have an inch or so of bare threads sticking out.
