Default Launching with seaweed

So I launched at the Cameron ferry this morning, seaweed everywhere. Being a new boater, my question is what do you do when the boat doesn't seem to respond to the throttle? Should I have lowered the motor more to get below it? Was fairly dicey for a few moments, didn't like it at all.

Sounds like it could be either engine is tilted to far up. Engine should be in a down position when you take off.

Or it could be a weight distribution problem. If you have too much weight in the back of the boat, it is hard for the boat to plane off [ie. come back to a more level position].

Trim motor all the way down so boat will get up on top of water quicker.

Yeah, that's what it looked like coming in. Didn't have trouble loading, but launching it just seemed spread out more. Like I said, I don't think I had it trimmed down enough. Just seemed like it was struggling to move the boat in all of that.

also good practice to watch you water pressure when running though the stuff. doesnt take long to mess up a good motor if you drop water pressure from something getting tangled around the water pickup. a lot of stuff floats with that junk too such as plastic bags. fyi tmi
