While I'm not looking to get one made I like what Prodigy Boats are doing. They also seem to be producing enough that they have some in stock regularly.

35GTR or 25GTR?
Shawn I wouldnt do a gator-trax because of the round chine hulls squat really bad on take off with a heavy load, unless you are looking for a hull that will turn good(only advantage of round chine) I would get a square chine hull if a little slide during turns doesnt bother you, lil more speed and load carrying is better....If you get the southfork slick bottom hull I would go with a 17/48 or 18/48...no less than 17'..Ive looked at them before and they seem to be a nice boat for the price....I wouldnt be doing any jumping or nothin like that in them but for just marsh running should be good

I just called them and they like to run 3 ribs due to sliding in the turns too bad but he can build me a slick. He has a 17x52 on the lot that sounds like what I'm looking except I'm not looking for a permanent mounted gunbox like what's in there so I may be ordering one.

17-52 is ideal for a surface drive

I had Karl Styron in creole make me an 18x48 for my 36 PD. I love it! He'll make it however (length, width, boxes, etc.) you want. You're more than welcome to take a look at mine if you'd like.

What kind of speeds are you seeing?

I've hit 29 mph in perfect conditions with no load. 3 guys, hunting gear, and dog about 25 mph. My motor is stock except for a BPS muffler.

My boat is 18' and I don't think I would go shorter. Whatever you do you better get a move on. Season is right around the corner. ;-)

Yeah I know. We've been running 18x48's and smaller for a while. After looking at the 17x52 I think it's an ideal size. I like the width more than I like the length especially when gator hunting. I would think speed would be the same between 18x48 and 17x52. I'm going to look at the Southforks next week while I'm off for the week for gator season. Jerry offered to take the 17x52 out for a run so I may take him up on that.

Anybody have an idea what a 35 gatortail and a 18 ft south fork would cost? Would be nice to save a little money versus buying the gatortail boat.

Just spend the money on a true mud haul you will be happier in the long run IMO
