Default Fising flukes in the grass

For those of you who fish flukes, when the grass is thick, I would like your input on:

What brand fluke

What color fluke

What hook do you use

Thanks for the advice.

Zoom superfluke. Watermellon seed, watermellon red usually. I use an owner 3/0 screw on hook with I believe a 1/32 oz weight built in the bend of the hook. That little bit of weight keeps the bait swimming on its belly vs rolling on its side. When plucking it through grass the weight corrects the fall. In clear open water the weightless is fine.

Same. When I first started fishing flukes I would buy them in a kit with the hook included. The hook didn't have an eye to tie into it was more a bend that had a barb to go into the fluke itself. Those kits are long gone. So when I would buy the fluke and try to fish on a large bend worm hook I had a heck of a time getting the bait to swim right. When I switched to the screw on hook with a wieght the action is soooo much better.

I been using the big bite jerk minnow. Has a good scent and they are always straight and not deformed like the zoom are sometimes. I use a 4/0 xpoint wide gap worm hook.

I started using the big bite flukes more than the zoom. They seem to hold up better and I rather working them. Most of the time I use watermelon red or a baby bass type color just depending on how the water is. I use a gamikastu 4/0 superline hook.

Try the strike king caffeine shad. Probably won't catch any more fish than the good ol super fluke but they are a lot softer and have a little more wiggle with a good scent on em also. Have caught bed fish well with these on a screw on shakey head. Yamamoto makes practically the same thing without the scent and maybe a little more salt impregnated in them

I go strictly unweighted 4/0 light wire hook. Don't like to use a heavy wire hook unless they're really eating and not as worried about how well the bait is working...if that makes sense
