Default ATV title?

Would you buy an ATV without a title? What if the seller offers a bill of sale? What's the risk? Nearly all dirt bikes are bought/sold without titles.

Risk would be if it was ever stolen and reported as such. Mr. Green Jeans calls in the VIN and bam. I suppose you may not get into trouble by having a bill of sale, but it could be returned to original owner.

Could I just do a VIN search before I buy it?

If its a grizzly let me know my brother had one stolen. He never had it titled in his name and lost the info in a move. If you have a title you can claim theft on your insurance. I would go to Thibs titles pay taxes and have it titled in your name. Its a nice insurance policy for a 100 bucks. If its stolen you are in the clear.

It's a honda. Don't think you can get a title, without a title.
