Default Solo Slingin

How many of you routinely go fishing solo?

I'm about 50/50

And if so do you leave some type of float plan?

At least half my trips . . . wading, kayaking, and boat. Always tell my wife where I'm going and when I should be home and then I call when I'm off the water. I wear a life jacket all the time in the kayak, and in the boat when I'm running the outboard.

60-70% solo. Being single, I at least tell me son where i'm going.. Don't wear my lifejacket when I'm in my 24' BB..

When I'm in my smaller 18' alum. i always wear my LJ when Motor is running.

90% I mainly fresh water fish. I hate having to stop fishing when the person in the back gets hung every 3rd cast.

Float plan with family. However that only gives a general area as I could be covering a lot of water looking for the trout.

This year I also invested in a personal locator beacon. It's an ACR resqlink +. It floats and stored in a little belt pouch I found in my box of junk. Additionally attached to a lanyard on my belt.

One of the biggest concerns I have fishing solo is being knocked off the boat when the water temperature is anywhere below 60 degrees and the trolling motor is still on. It's wickedly easy to get hypothermic and it don't take long for the boat to get away from you with the trolling motor on half throttle.

I also wear my PFD as soon as I get on the boat until it's back on the trailer.

I got solo 90% of the time and always let the lady know when I'm on and off the water, also the general area where I'm fishing...if I make a major change in the game plan she knows...then again when I'm off the water. I wear my life jacket according to the conditions and the location I'm running the boat

I never fish alone & always leave a written note about where I might be fishing. If I happened to be late arriving back, the little lady might forget what I told her. Always wear my floating device and kill switch. Try to be as safe as possible.

or banging stuff around in the boat and constantly complaining about gnats or nothing biting instead of just fishing and paying attention to whats going on.

it is nice to have a "good" fisherman with you who can help determine the patterns and style the fish want that day so both of you do better but most guys like that go fishing by themselves because of the reasons stated above lol.

I fish by myself about 90% of the time and always wear life jacket when the boat is moving, I make sure to tell "someone" where im going and roughly when I expect to return, I carry a cell phone at all times and make sure the person who knows my plans has the number. I think that is about all you can do except install a good long range vhf radio for calling for help but small boats like mine that isn't an option and hand held vhf radios are not worth buying due to very limited ranges.(they only work good at the store or when in town but not on the water)

Solo all the time, do wear PDD when underway, and tell someone where I am at, or going, and always were kill switch lanyard. Always have mobile phone, and VHF is a plus.
Ultimately use common sense.

Only reason I go solo, is that I have no friends that want to go, ever! They always busy.

Solo 95% of the time. Everybody else is too busy for me. Someone always knows where I'm going.
