Dularge

It's been a long time since I've posted here but I'm headed down to Dularge for the first time this weekend looking for a few trout and thinking about fishing Lake Mechant but have no idea if that's a good place to go or not. Don't even have and idea where to start...............Any advise would be great!!!!!!!!

Wait for the cold months to try Mechant. That's better territory for reds now, but not trout. If you want trout, Sunday is looking better than Saturday, due to wind. Try south Pelto, at the rigs or the islands. Or head through Caillou Boca toward the islands out that way.

Hey thanks Legallimits I may have to drop back and punt cuz Saturday was the only day I was clean and green to roll out. I sure don't want to go out there and fight the wind.

down there, you should probably follow someone out to the coast, especially if you try following Bayou Dularge all the way out, it can be tricky!

Might be a challenge if you have not been there in awhile. Just go to beach side of islands either look for birds or the 20 boats all anchored out togather. Most of the time you do not have to get in the middle of them to catch fish. After you put a few fish in cooler to take home go exploring and find a couple of your own spots. Check out the platforms behind the islands some will have fish on them some won't just keep hitting them until you find one that does. Becareful going around the islands or you may find yourself beached high and dry.

Take a look at Google Earth before heading out there. You can see where all of the sandbars are, so you'll know what to avoid.

Thanks everyone.....lots of good advise! I just checked the weather for tomorrow and it's looking pretty grim. Houma is expecting WSW winds 10-20mph w/50% rain chance. I have a 21' Seapro with 150 yam hanging off the back and hasn't been out in months and this weekend ain't looking good. Prolly BBQ & brews in the back yard (again)!

Pelican Pass was holding some fish about two weeks ago, its on the coast and straight down Bayou Dularge. There are several reefs in there I just typically drift until I find some fish.
