Default Hooking live shrimp

I've been using 2/0 kahle hooks forever to hook live shrimp when I'm fishing for trout or reds, and I hook the shrimp through the razor in the head. There's never a problem when fishing for trout, because they tend to attack the thing immediately or in a 1-2 punch. Also no problem if a bull red takes it, because they inhale the thing. But when its a 12-20 inch redfish, they might tap tap tap it. With that tapping, they'll snag the tail off and leave just the shell of the head. I've removed the tail fin before and run the hook through the body, but the shrimp doesn't move and tends to die quickly. If I'm going to fish with live shrimp, I want them to be super active in the water. Anybody have a way of hooking live shrimp to let them stay frisky in the water but where the fish has to take the hook when biting the shrimp?

small treble through the horn.. I haven't fish with them in about 10 years, but that's the way we would do it. Shrimp would move all kinds of crazy

owner 1/0 circle hook thru the horn
Those khale hooks are weird and most are cheap and straighten out easily.
Owner makes one shaped like a khale, with a red and a trout on the package, but don't get those.. get the circle hook.. They're awesome

I hook the horn or the tail. If I miss one or two I'll try hooking the other end.

Under a "strike indicator" I'll hook last segment of the tail. Carolina rigged I hook the horn.

Nothing works for me anyway and I haven't been fishing in forever so I wouldn't necessarily take this advice

I prepare my live shrimp thru the razor also because I feel the shrimp gets the best movt under or around the cork and having the correct small lite weight hook is key.....however I have found that trout or more of the nibblers so to speak not the reds....I have had reds just bust the bait or grab it slowly and walk away and then you realize you have a big red on the hook....the trout however, I have had all sizes just straight up "rob" my bait off the hook like a mouse taking cheese off a rat trap lol....nibbles around and such, you get confused thinking its just bait hitting ur line because many trash baits are doing so but don't let the trout accidently get hooked lol, they take off like you caught them stealing your lunch money lol and its fish on!!!.....I have found when the shrimp is aggressively moving around in the water under the cork, the trout don't waste any time playing around, they bust the hook like a red esp if they are 2lbs and up...if im Carolina rigged, they don't have a chance to sneak me.....lol...I can feel a "shrimp hair" hitting my hook and I set on anything that bumps the hook lol
