This wasn't caught in a cast net but my father caught a Browning automatic shotgun in a soft case back in the '60s at the Ellender Ferry. Had it reblued after it started to rust then found the owner. Turns out they were going duck hunting and the boat flipped the same day my dad caught it.

I've caught a lot of gar in my cast net, a good many redfish and black drum, lots of flounder at Rollover. This spring I brought my 10 year old to the Rock. She's been throwing the cast net like a champ since she was 8. Her first cast she caught a gar that was about 10 pounds. She then proceeded to catch a bunch of sailfin molly's and sheepshead minnows that we used to stock her aquarium. She's fun to watch, opens the net every time.

Hwy 82 heading west of Lafayette. Once you pass through Pecan Island, Rollover Bayou landing is to your left after you pass up last curve in PI that doglegs right. Should be able to Google map it

Especially when "Florida and spring break" are mentioned in the same sentence.
