Went yesterday in the 40mph wind and fishing was tuff. Water on the south end(Little Chenier) was stained up and the grass and salvania was horrible. That is the worst opening I have had in the last 5 yrs. It will get better when it clears up some. Don't know what the front looks like I wasn't going to fight it to get there

I haven't been out there this year yet but I was thinking the grass was gonna be especially bad since we had such a mild winter and it wouldn't have died back as much. That wind makes even good fishing tough and there is nothing to hide behind.

Wind was whipping Sunday. Water looked like the Intracoastal Waterway had invaded. Not quite chocolate milk, but not pretty at all. Salvinia has choked up a major canal east of Superior Canal on the south end.
If we did get a bite, we couldn't tell due to the wind. Shoulda gone to Lacassine Reserve, apparently. I'll give it a few weeks and try Miami again. |

Where did you launch out of? I may try to get out there this week and hopefully find some clearer water.

Under the Gibbstown bridge, ran east on Intracoastal.

We found some clear water that was basically isolated from the canal but the wind was impressive. They may need to do a little dredging out there in spots.

Back before the hurricanes I use to catch ice chests full there of sacs and goggle eyes. Try the CY canals and Humble too. I would fish the pockets between the grass and the bank. pearl colored tube jigs fished a foot under a tube cork was the ticket back then. I sure miss my 25 hp boat.
