Latt I I found out Lawrence's in-laws in Westlake and in Dequincy raise rabbits and sell them live and dressed. They have dressed chickens, eggs and any other farm animal for sale. I am going to give them a call.
I want to stay away from sale barns and swap shops. The rabbits are in shock and you don't know what you are getting. I bought a Californian buck yesterday that was like a puppy dog in his cage. Once he was out of his cage he was a different rabbit until this afternoon. I picked up a New Zealand doe today and it was the same scenario. She too was in shock all afternoon. You should of saw my young buck when I bought her home and put her in the pen next to her. I opened his cage to put in a mineral lick and he stood up on his hind legs for me to pick him up. He was like come on man put me in her cage. He will get his wish 3 times tomorrow if the doe has relaxed. There is also a auction and a rabbit/poultry auction every Friday at 5pm and 6pm at the old Calcam arena on Lewis St. |

I see a lot of people advertising rabbits on Craigslist.....don't know it that is a good source, but you might get some help there if you need to look some more.

Thanks for the info. I have checked those places. I was just looking to buy from a member. I am still looking for a Californian doe at breeding age. Most the online ads are bunnies is what the problem has been. I have been lucky with the 2 I just bought. One was from an older couple that treat their breeders like pets and the other was from a 4H project and the girl treated them like pets. Both want to be petted and are easy to handle.

I can vouch for these. They have been handled since they were born, they are from my rabbitry. Both of those does have raised litters of at least 10 kits to butcher age. D |
