We should get a group off bay boat and run for snapper ect. Been wanting to take my 22 ft pathfinder for snapper but I am too much of a chicken to make a run by myself lol.

If the seas are right we are usually out there every saturday and going to try to line up a week of vacation and stay out there a whole week this year. My buddy has a brand new 26' Contender and this will be his first year offshore fishing. We had a few good trip last year: |

We've caught small chicken dolphin(nothing over 24") in that area on grass lines and floating debris 30-40ish miles out.

If you go offshore in a 18-22ft single motor boat by your self, far enough to catch snapper
#1 Hope you have good friends #2 Have 911 and Coast Guard on speed dial I have been working out in the Gulf going on 15 years and have seen it go from glass to 10 ft waves with 60pmh winds in thunder storms Your playing a game against mother nature and just remember you might do it 100xs but that one time will be the worst experience you ever have in your life in a boat We got caught in a squall 5 years ago 34 miles out of Cameron in a 30ft Fountain with 3 engines and had my life jacket on tight and with knuckles praying to God that we survive That would of put a single engine boat on bottom Thats all I have to say about that!!

Yeppppppp! Everyone on here has made fun of the weather man for being wrong all the time, yet people will trust him when their life most depends on it. Not many second chances out there |

Pensacola is not that far a drive. Folks over that way get into a lot of neat fish within sight of the beach. No need to risk lives bringing a small boat 50 miles out.
Depending on your species preferences, there is a lot of neat stuff off of the big bend area of Florida too. The silt and nutrients from the Mississippi are a great blessing to Louisiana, but they also define some of the limitations. And if you must chase the pelagics off the LA coast, a ride in the charter boats is very cost effective when compared to a ride in a hearse. |

This is from about 3 years ago, this boat was out fishing and got in some rough weather and starting taking on water. He was next to our platform and was spotted by a work boat we had in the area.
Now this crew has God on there side because water came on so fast they lost all radio signal and could not get any cell service with the one phone that was not wet while trying to bilge the boat out. This boat sunk to the bottom with end 25mins and the 6 people were saved by our work boat . The odds of them having some one to see them and find them in the Gulf of Mexico like this is a once in a lifetime deal. Because your a needle in a haystack out here
