Ive got front electronics on my Haynie, I fish toledo, henderson and streeters out of it....ive got buddies that dont want to put there bass boats in saltwater so in my opinion a good setup bay boat is the best of both worlds.

No reason you can't bass fish from a bay boat. I have taken my 22' Ranger to the spillway to bring some large items to the houseboat, and fished out of it. The main reason the bass boat is better for it's intended purpose is maneuverability, the speed is secondary but nice.
That being said, if I only could have one boat it would be a bay boat with a foot control trolling motor. I will never put my bass boat in the saltwater, I do fish out of Venice in the bass boat but don't go far enough south to worry about the salt. |

Nothing wrong with bass fishing from a bay boat, does not cause any disadvantage. It's actually great because I can fish big lake and Toledo all from the same boat instead of having two separate boats. Only time I would buy a bass boat is if I get a camp on Toledo to avoid having to pull a boat back and forth every time

An SCB with a 300 would work well as a bay/bass boat!

So i'm still not sure if you can actually use a bay boat for bass fishing. I think more discussion is necessary at this point.

I don't know how well a bay boat would maneuver in the flooded timber of Toledo Bend! I do blow by them quite regularly in my bass boat when the lake is calm! They take me when the lake is rough!

I was concerned about the draft. Doesn't Bay boats push more water.

Been bass fishing out of a bay boat for years. Sure it catches more wind but once you get used to it with a good trolling motor it is no problem.
