Hi ml2oo3, any update on how the Excel is performing and what your overall feelings are towards it?

I have the 220 bay pro, and so far been great for me. Handles the chop very well. Only been wet once, and that was heavy chop, (2-3' rollers) and a cross wind.

Looks like a great boat. I really like their rod lockers. No stupid tubes inside. Not a lot of room for big ice chests.

The front lockers in this boat is what sold me. They are totally dry....all four of them. Unlike the express.

That's one drawback. But there is no perfect boat. Just one that's perfect for you.

I have the 220 as well and the first season my floor buckled and had a hump in it. At least excel is replacing my hull but I am still waiting to get it back.
My rod lockers are not water tight...even under the rear seats are not water tight!!

Ronnie,

The hatches in the back of mine are not water tight either. They are designed differently, but the four up front on mine go through the pressure washer after every trip and are totally dry.

Do they know why your floor buckled? This has me a little worried now. Lol

my floor starting doing it right away and i was told to just use it until the winter and they would fix it. They tried to inject foam under it to fix it and i rejected that because then i had a huge hump in the floor in front the bait well. I am wishing i would have went with a FG hull now. Neither express nor excel quality has impressed me at all.

I was very unimpressed with express. So far my excel has been great. It handles better than expected in rough water. I've been in some pretty bad stuff with it so far. The only downside I've found is the weight of the hull. It's so light the wind really blows it around.

Price point was my most deciding factor. Didn't want to finance a boat for 10-15 years. Lol

Maybe they had a bad run when you got your first one. I hope so, and good luck with the new hull.
