Reds
Seems it has been a little hush hush but from what I am hearing there were hundreds if not thousands of dead Bull Reds on the beach between Holly Beach and Sabine. It was so bad they buried them or burned them on the beach. I agre with Ray, if this is true it more than likely was caused by the pogy boats which have been working the area.

I agree with Yak and Will-E, at Calcasieu Point, it's Alcoa's coke fines.
That other stuff looks like ballast water to me. It happens all the time, but it doesn't make it right. Nasty for your boat, nasty for the environment. Sounds like a job for DEQ, no call EPA, those tree huggers get excited about anything. Tell them that there are some some fish floating around Calcasieu Point that don't even have any meat on their skeletons. |

There is something that we can do to help these little oil spills here. We can help mother nature by sprinkling some oil eating bacteria on those slicks eventually the
bacteria will eat it up. There is also a product made in Mexico called Velete' . It is a fibrous product that floats on top of the water that is filled that has the bacteria in it. As the oil is eaten by bacteria and settles it can be a food source for the fish food chain. Maybe someone could find out about being a distributor for them in our area. That we can help out a little ourselves if any oil eventually gets into the Calcasieu estuary. |
