LOL thats what made me think of the anchorman thread
On the blue tail thing, Mr. Ted Joanen told me about that and hes prob one of the smartest outdoors men i know - gamewarden for years. You do have a good point, who knows whats right..... but i will tell you have a better chance of catchin somethin if some chick spits on my cricket........ BAHAHAH Especially if shes fishing on my deck |

This one here is for W If the tail being blue indicates that the fish is active, and a non-active fish is 'regular' color (reddish), and we know that more blood would be pumping to the tail of an active fish, and that blood is red, yet the fish's tail is blue when there is more red blood pumping to the tail, it would seem that the tail should be red when active, how is this possible? |

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it Blue tailed redfish, which of course in German means the fish was swimming in pollution Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct. Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago. Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean blood rushing to the tail from an active fish? Ron Burgundy: No. No. Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really. Ron Burgundy: Agree to disagree |

On another note, I am sure many have heard that if a mallard has bright orange legs when you kill it, then it is a 'flight duck', whereas technically most ducks have been flying when you shoot them. The ducks that have been in the air awhile have the bright orange feet, and the 'local' ones have the drab feet. The ones with the drab feet have surely been kicking their feet in the water, and the ones that are flying have em tucked away. I think this goes with the countercurrent heat exchange also, but I have not slept in a Holiday Inn lately. Really wanted W's answer for a laugh before I get mad at the TV for this upcoming debate |
