Just curious as to why you needed such heavy jig heads? was the tide strong? |

Easier to keep bottom contact they were dead on the bottom....Had a rod rigged with 1/4 and one with 3/8 they seemed to hit the 3/8 better. Ran out of 3/8 from hang ups went to the 1/2 oz. The heavier head also gives a paddle tail bait more action on the fall.

Great job. I have always fished reds at the Point and just started to target specks. Ready for the weekend now.

The bite was extremely slow...had live bait and fished out of the pass yesterday. Couldnt get a bite most of the morning (gaftops weren't even interested). Put our first speck in the box around 9:30. Ended the day with 23 specks and a bonus 34' juvenile ling.

Good job man. tried to leave early... ended up sleeping late, hit the wreck on 90, had to take the berry tour to get around... by the time we got to the butte it looked like a wally world parking lot on black friday. Managed a few nice specs and had fun with my ladies.

Do you order yours or find them in the area. I once dug one out of a catfish mouth, really liked the tail action. Have looked around but have not seen any Hybrid flurry anywhere, would like to try some one day.
QUOTE=Montauk17;601774]Hybrid flurry with a 3/8 and 1/2 oz jighead....very slow on the bottom almost like worm fishing for bass. It was not a fast bite took me 5 hours to catch the first 20. Their stomachs were full of pogies. [/QUOTE] |

Been looking pretty hard for Specs between Fresh Water City and the Rock, along the beach. Catching plenty of Reds, just no Spec's yet. I consider it a challenge because they should be some in the area. Water has been decent to good....

The matrix shad is a copy cat....Chas used their product for years before he started making his own. Even the colors are very similar. The hybrid has better action it is a softer plastic. They may not last as long but still durable enough to catch 10 or so per bait.

Yeah they there somewhere.....Gotta be reefs that nobody fishes that would hold em. From freshwater to tee butte is a vast shoreline. I know they catch trout along the beach out of mermentau.

I've been thinking about taking my kayak from freshwater city out to the beach. It looks like a mile or so. I'm not sure how busy it is though with crew and work boats. I'd prefer not to die if I can help it.

I would not suggest that....heavy traffic and current.
