I would say it is a security thing since the terrorism stuff started. Ppg has some very nasty and explosive chemicals leaving those docks. They have you on camera way before you even think about getting close.

I am not familiar with the phone app. If you look at it on a computer, you will see (2) PDF's attached. Thats the only way I could attach them, maybe one of the moderators can display them differently.

I mainly fish in Big Lake and not along the ship channel.

If you are:

1) fishing along the bank and a LNG ship comes up the channel......do you have to leave????

2) If you are headed down the channel [coming from the north] and a LNG ship is down near the washout area, when you get close [a mile away] do you have to turn around????

3) If a LNG ship is coming, can you go back in a canal or bayou to get out of the ship channel??? If so, how far off the channel must you get to be "OK?

4) If you are say, fishing the washout area.....how far must you be from the ship channel to be "OK" when a LNG ship passes???

The LNG ships are escorted by the CC with their gun boats. When the LNG ships are in transit a 1 mile safety zone is required.

I've never been chased away from the ship channel for any vessel coming through (LNG or otherwise) I will tell you that those suckers come through there hauling it sometimes and in those cases it is advisable to use caution because the wave might swamp you.

Don't know if the 1 mile security zone is inforced but it is the law.

Paul.....that is why I posted the questions.....So others [and me] can learn what to do when a LNG ship comes.

Who has been fishing along the ship channel when a LNG ship comes by? Did the Coast Guard make you leave?
