I bring three, all rigged up different, that way I don't have to worry about wasting precious fishing time changing rigs on one pole.

Two baitcasting rigged differently and two spinning for others and backup if I'm on my own boat. Otherwise, one baitcasting and one spinning.

Spincast reel: noun:
1. a fishing reel mounted on a spinning rod, having a stationary spool on the side of which is a revolving metal arm that catches the line and winds it onto the spool as a handle is turned, the metal arm being disengaged during casting so the line spirals freely off the spool, carried by the cast lure.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1377089845.808948.jpg like this but I have the 2500 |

We usually carry 8 rods for everyone in the boat (family). We fish bait mostly, and depending on tides can usually productively fish 6-8 lines at a time, depending on tides and wind. Most anglers can easily fish 2 rods with bait at a time. It is not uncommon for less experienced anglers or an angler needing to frequently recast to remain close to structure to only fish one line. Likewise, it is not uncommon for a more experienced angler to fish three lines, especially if there are only two anglers in the boat.
Having a lot of lines in the water helps the boat quickly determine which bait is working best (dead shrimp, live shrimp, mullet, or crab), which point in the water column is hot (bottom or under a bobber), and which side of the boat is hot (bank/structure side or other side). |
