Who needs enemies wit friends like these. On another note, the last time we went to Toledo bend, I had to get somebody to pull my boat home because of extenuating circumstances. Well I get back in town and find my boat and trailer parked 3 houses down from mine. These are good friends who have been to my house several times and clearly know where I live. Luckily the people weren't home. Some people you can't even trust to park your **** at the right house, much less operate it in navigable waters.

I was unfortunately on the A-hole end of messing up my Brother in law's boat. We were spending a weekend with the families in Toledo and since I was the only fisherman I went solo in his boat one morning. Coming back in the canal to the camp I hit a stump while idoling and bent the prop shaft. When I got it back to the camp all the kids had there swimsuits on and were waiting on my return to go tubing. All i had to pay was a $200 deductible but I was definately the ruiner of the weekend. Nothing worse than a kid's face when he thinks you're an a$$ hole.

Never heard of bending a prop shaft while idling.

I have no issues with letting close friends and family borrow anything I have...I enjoy sharing the "fruits of my labor" with the people I love. I even let my son and God-son take my corvette to their prom's.....I love that car more than the wife....don't tell the wife......LOL

Depends.....if I feel like I'd like to spend many hours cleaning and fixing little things on it, then yes, ill let someone borrow it.......

But only if I know they have the ability to replace it if it gets destroyed

Correct.

I went fishing at my buddies camp in BSL, he got called out to work. Told me to take his boat in the bay if i wanted and pull the kids around on the tube. When i'm done put it back on the trailer and park it under the camp. I told him I'll hook up to the trailer and back it into the launch, pick it up and help you clean it right now. I'm not taking your boat by myself, I don't have the money to replace something that isn't mine.

yes, but its a very short list. Mostly guys that I fish with and guys that help me maintain my boat. They would let me use theirs too I'm sure.

Not really....My stuff always is so full of quirks I am the only one that can get it to work. It would be irresponsible to let someone try.

I purchased a boat at the beginning of this year because I couldn't relay on someone with a boat every weekend and the last thing I wanted to do was ask to borrow their nice bay boats which I couldn't afford to fix. Murphy and I go back a good ways and can usually expect a freak incident here and there. Now my boat, I will let a very select few operate her and they are the ones I can trust to fix something that was their fault but little things that just happen I'll fix because that something that should have happened to me from normal use. I believe if you can't afford to fix something and don't want to screw up a good friendship be careful out there cause Murphy is every where. One bonus to someone running your boat is that at least its being used and not sitting.

The ONLY person I would let take my boat out would be my dad...He let me take his out when I was just out of school and had no money, and he knew I couldn't have fixed anything if I had broken it. But, he also taught me growing up to take care of the things we had and how to use and not abuse. Dang, now I feel like taking the rest of the day off and taking him fishing...
