I've always wondered, Is that open pocket to the NW of all the reefs deep enough to run in? Any fish hold up in there? Never ventured inside that western side of the pass before.

Yes but you must remember depth is tide dependent. low tide, it is really shallow. You can also run along the north rum, there is a small channel but study the map closely before you venture in this area. there are some small reefs to look out for.
