Lodging is a must. Go on the internet and try to find a rental during Mar - November. The motel rooms at Spicer's are a cash cow.

i think it would be a good idea. boat lifts would be nice. my place is not on the water and i've "been on the list" at spicers for a long time. also a grill would be nice. the only place i know of to get a hot meal after fishing is at the rec center. it would be nice to eat at the marina.

Keep your eyes open. That is exactly what I hear is coming to the west side. Wouldn't it be nice to swipe your credit card in a pump 24/7 to get gas on the water? How about pulling in at lunch and ordering a meal. Have a good place to park a boat while you enjoy a beer with friends... I can't wait.

I grew up Fishing in Bolivar. Stingaree Marina has always been a great place just as you mentioned. |

The bay used to have that and now that its gone that place is not the same for me. Can't beat grabbing a cold beer and burger and heading back on the water like that. Sent |

The key to this is where will the supposed marina be located.

Toledo Bend has about 20 marinas just like this. They have cabins, RV hookups, gas, boat stalls, restaurants, live bait, beer etc. Its awesome to fish until about noon, then sit down, have a beer, have a nice hot meal, then hit the water again. I don't understand why this wouldn't work somewhere on Big Lake.

I think hebert's had a restaurant for a while but it didn't make it. Problem with Big lake or any bay system marina is how seasonal the crowds are. You also get less recreational traffic(tubers and stuff) like you typically do on a freshwater lake.

If it were me I would also offer some short term rental wet slips for people that come down for a few days and dont want to keep launching their boats. On grand isle those run $15/day and they stay full during the summer.

It would cost more to Demo Dugas than start fresh at a new site! Plus, you would have to open a new Landfill to bury everything ! |
