I never used a boga and want to get one. But everytime I go I can't justify spending that much on one. Which ones do u guys use that are somewhat reasonably priced? I always just use floating basket with small plastic tackel box zipped tied and a small net tied to my basket. I have lost way too many fish especially when there is 5 ppl and no net. I've seen some buddies lose up to 10 fish in one trip. I would never wade without a net! I would vomit if I had a fish over 5 that I lost tryin to hook my boga to it!

For those who have boga's just a little bit of info. The red float that most recommend and have on their boga does not keep boga afloat. I tried in the pool one day before going wade fishing and it sunk to the bottom.

I appreciate that. I used to wade some back before Rita, in 03 - 05, but not alot 5 or 6 times each year. We caught fish then, on Corky Devils, Catch 2000 and topwaters.

More times than not now I am not looking for meat and would love to get more into wade fishing. I have a Boga, wade belt, net and other stuff. Going to get another pair of waders.

One big question I have is did the storms, Rita and Ike, change the lake bottom a lot? In othere words, would the places I used to wade still have decent bottoms or may be soft as sh** now?

Hope to have my new boat soon and would love to take anyone wading that is interested. As a matter of fact, I have access to a boat now even if I don't have the new boat soon. Have a 4 day weekend coming up and plan on being on the water somewhere.

Also, do you have to see bait in an area or just know the area will hold fish before bailing out?

Thanks to all of you for your help and input.

It takes 4 Corkys to equal 1 Bomber.

Bruce has had days when the Corky ruled, days when the Bomber ruled, days when the fish ate 'em both and days when they wouldn't touch either. He is fairly adept at fishin' that Corky, but, in all fairness, not so much a Bomber. It's not a competition between the two of us. I know, without a doubt, he'll switch over to a Bomber when I start waxin' his azz.

eastaboga tackle brand, i paid like 90 before hookset marine gear raised prices

they make some decent knock offs but not machined out of all 316 stainless, and the scale is dead on with calcasieu point's STAR scale.

Thanks for all the advice, I just have to try wading more often. When I wade, I usually try to catch a few fish on sand eels just to take the edge of so I don't get skunked then bail out of the boat. I made one wade trip to Mecca AKA Chandeleur Islands - We smacked em but no big fish. Sting rays were everywhere, big sharks too. I made one wade trip to East Cameron Jetties - my friend's son came with cut off shorts, no shoes,no shirt, a old red ambassador reel, his rod had the tip broken off and he caught fish after fish on a double rig with glow/chartreuse cocahoes. He eventually felt sorry for me and gave me some of his baits but I still couldn't catch em like he could. My friend says his kid does that all the time. Guess I'll just keep trying, just keep trying.
