Ugly Stik Inshore Select seven foot one-piece medium action. $30 - $40. Works great for me. Never had anyone prove to me that a $100 - $600 rod caught more fish.

My rod/reel setups are all universal rigs. We fish 4 adults on the boat so the rods have to be able to horse around trout and such without much regard for finesse. It would be awesome to have a high dollar rod but the academy rods catch fish just fine when your chunkin poppin corks and the occasional 1/8oz jighead on the bottom.

Default Duce rods

I love my Duce rods and enjoy supporting a local company that makes a great product. The same guys telling you not to buy a Duce were the ones saying it was the best rod on the market two weeks ago. Duce accepted a working relationship with CCA, which will help them across the state with the exception of the 20 SC guys butt hurt about them.

Buy a rod because its a great rod and you like it. Don't let a few people discourage you from a high quality local product because they dislike a business relationship that has nothing to do with the quality of the rod.

All good man, if you don't support Duce Rods because of their support of CCA that fine.. but you will also need to stop supporting the following companies for the SAME reason..

Academy Sports
Powertech Props
Costa Sunglasses
Rouses Stores
K2 Coolers
American Rodsmith
Chevy
NaticStar
Mercury Motors

and those are just a few. So there is no issue not supporting DUCE but you will also need to stop supporting ALL brands associated with CCA in order to make it fair and for your boycott to be effective.

and thats what I'm getting at. If one stands by their hate of CCA they must boycott all products that support them. Picking and choosing what products you want to bash isn't passionately opposing CCA. When you bash Duce Rods for their marketing partnership with CCA, All its doing is hurting a local company who has risked all their assets to provide a quality product.

I fish artificials except for June/July/August time period. A lighter rod doesn't wear me out as fast as a heavier one so that allows me to casts a lot more each day. It should statistically allow me to catch more fish.

You're a year behind man. You need to be properly informed before making ignorant statements, just saying.
New owners, new warranty. Even warrantied the older models they were not associated with.

Company has done a definitive about face in a year? Who on here has been touting the great service besides you? Of course you get it, they send you free rods and want great press.

I do remember one guy that still couldn't get ahold of them, and you were surprised because the new Duce wasn't responding. And this poor guy wanted to buy more stuff from them, yet he couldn't get them to pick up and take his cash!

Same brand name and saying not associated with is a ignorant statement, just saying. I am happy that your company is doing warranty work on the rods now, that's what all good companies should do.

Default favorite all around inshore rod?

I'm thinking about picking up this rod for bass and trout fishing throwing out spinners, and plastics like the Matrix Shad. Feedback on this rod for the intended purpose????

Seven foot medium. It's perfect for matrix shad on jigheads. You may want to go with a 6:1 ratio reel for spinners.

That rod will be a little soft for throwing spinnerbaits. At least for my personal preference.
