Well, if you have never fished much in north Louisiana I would recommend D'arbonne Lake in Feb/March for bass, or lmid March/early April for bass and big white perch. Probably top 5 white perch lakes in the state. Probably top 5 bass as well. Its a huge lake with many little bayous and creeks to go play around in. 40 feet deep in the main channels of the lake, to 20 ft channels in the creeks, very scenic as well. The state park rents very nice cabins for very reasonable prices, and there is a lighted pier as well, fun for the family. If you don't like to pole fish for white perch, you can set out some yo-yos and you will have plenty by morning. Lake is full of every kind of fish and big fish and not difficult to catch. There was a 15 or 16 lb bass caught out of there a few years ago. Buddy caught a 10 this summer fishing a tournament.

DO NOT GO TO CANEY LAKE IT IS A HUGE GARHOLE

I never really bass fished till I lived in north la cause I had to get my fix somehow. My pb out of Caney is a 7.5. Never fished d'arbonne but I have seen some icechests full and some pics from there Lake Monticello in Arkansas holds some monsters. I caught a 9.5 lber and I know of 8 other people that caught fish at least that big. A couple over 12 too

This X 100....But for fishing only...Not a family vacation...Sight fishing bedding females is the nutz....I went there with my biggest being 5lb7oz and we didn't even target fish that small...We caught smaller fish 3-5lbs in the morning before the sun came over the trees for vision and after the sun set to keep for fresh fish to eat and caught 7-9lber throwbacks all day for the camera! Nothing like setting the hook on those big females....It's different, but fun....

My son and some buds leaving for Falcon today, spooled up with 30 lb.braid, 7 1/2 ft rods with heavy action, wants to hang a double digit bucketmouth in the camp at Toledo. Anyone have past experience down there this time of year?

another family friendly place is Lake Claiborne located in North Louisiana. Pretty hills, tons of deer, and gorgeous lake. Never got to fish it, but worked there for a few weeks last year in the dead of winter. Snowed a few times and the lake was icy along every bank with icycles (sp?) every where. Pretty water in the lake too

I don't know how good the fishing still is ,But Natchez state park used to be a great place to spend a week. Nice cabins on the lake . trophy lake that has / had a slot that would make you cry. You would have to throw back 7 lb fish. I have my first over 7 on the wall from there and it was 3/8" over the slot. 7.46 lbs.
haven't fished there since my pops passed away as that was our place to go.

Lake Fork is nothing like it used to be, made 9 trips in 9 years. Have several videos that'll make you cry. One year we had 7 boats with 2 per boat & avg 50 bass per day per boat over 5lbs for 4 days.....yeah you heard me! now we struggle to catch decent bass. There's a lake just north of there that's been producing double digits daily called Lake Cooper, that would be the next place I go.
